Some armed bandits on Wednesday stormed a village in Jibiya Local Government Area of Katsina State around 11pm, killing two Immigration officers and rustling hundreds of cattle. It was gathered from a reliable source that the bandits surrounded Kadobe village, close to Immigration checkpoint, after they got information that many cows were cited in the village.

The armed bandits, according reports from our reliable source stated that they, decided to engage the immigration officers at the Kadobe checkpoint in a gun battle and succeeded in killing two Immigration officers while trying to escape with the rustled cows.

The immigration officers, sensing their large numbers and the likelihood of being overpowered, called for reinforcement from the military. The reinforcement team equally ran into an ambush setup by the armed bandits but was able to repel them. In the process of battling with the armed bandits, one soldier from the Nigerian army was injured in the incident.

However, the source said many bandits were also killed in the gun battle but the armed bandits took their remains along with the rustled cows back to their hideouts.

So they came in the night and started exchanging fire with the immigration officers. They succeeded in killing two immigration officers and injured one soldier.

“Many of the bandits too were killed but they took away the corpse with the cows,” the source stated.

It was also reliably gathered that the corpse of the immigration officers killed in the incident have been deposited in the mortuary while the injured soldier is receiving attention at the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina. The insecurity in the north is getting out of hand. It was previously reported that the bandit’s attack which took place at a mosque in Jibiya Katsina State in the early hours of Monday could have been averted if the criminals did not play a fast one on the residents. The bandits who were reported to have stormed a mosque located at the outskirt of Jibiya town in Katsina state were said to be numbered about 100.

A credible source from the community told our reliable source that residents of the community already had intelligence on the looming attack but were outsmarted by the armed bandits. Our source said the residents were informed that the attack would take place at midnight causing the youths and vigilante men of the community to lay ambush waiting for the armed bandits to arrive.

Unfortunately, the notorious armed bandits gained access into the community through an entirely different route without the vigilantes and the youth suspecting.

According to reports from our reliable source and I read; “We were expecting them from the eastern entry point through Daddara, Kukar Babangida or Magama but this time they proceeded beyond the town and camped at Jibawa. From Jibawa they went round to the western entry point near Yunusa Dantauri Hospital and attacked a mosque on the outskirt of the town,” a source said.

Katsina residents like never before have suffered countless attacks at the hands of the armed bandits who are referred to as devil incarnate.

Also in another news gathered by our reliable source, some hoodlums suspected to be armed bandits have attacked a Mosque in Kwata, Jibiya Local Government Area of Katsina State. They abducted over 40 worshippers during the attack.

“But these remaining ten, I cannot vividly say they are kidnapped or probably ran somewhere within the location for safety during the attack. It was after we conducted headcount this morning that we discovered that about ten villagers are still missing.
