On Saturday evening, unidentified gunmen kidnapped Benue State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development Ekpe Ogbu.

Colonel Paul Hemba (retd), the security adviser to the state governor, confirmed the abduction by revealing that the victim’s vehicle had been recovered by the police in Otukpo. He explained that the commissioner was taken from Adankari Junction on the Otukpo-Ado Road.

More than three kidnappings have been recorded at the Adankari Junction, making it a popular target.

The previous victims reportedly admitted, upon their release, that the kidnappers were armed herdsmen who terrorized nearby communities and commuters who use the route.
