General tips
#1 Invest in hair care products
First and foremost, your hair will not live without a good wash and conditioner. Also, consider include a serum on the list.
However, with so many shampoos and conditioners available, you may become perplexed.
A fantastic advice is to spend some time getting to know your hair.
Many of your queries and concerns will be answered by your hair type. Choose a shampoo that is appropriate for your hair type.
#2 Master the use of brushes for your hair
Brushing your hair is not as straightforward as you would believe. If your hair is a tangled mess, try brushing it! You will surely be turned off by the hair loss. In such instances, you should obtain a detangling brush.
It’s a brush with small and wide bristles that detangles your hair gently.
You’ll also need a broad-toothed comb, a roller brush, and a wide hairbrush in addition to the detangler brush. Having these will make your hair journey go more smoothly.
#3 Having regular oil massages
Oil nourishes your hair, which is in desperate need of it. Apart from its moisturising impact, hair oils such as coconut oil, almond oil, and olive oil include a plethora of hair-boosting ingredients and qualities.
Long hair is more vulnerable to breakage and damage. Oiling your hair on a regular basis provides it with the necessary strength to stave off any injury.
#4 Make sun protection a priority
Sun damage can rob your hair of its natural beauty. The sun can cause irreversible harm to your hair. It is preferable to be prepared for it. Avoid exposing your hair to the sun for long periods of time. If you can’t avoid going out in the sun, get a hat to keep your hair covered and protected.
#5 Consume healthily
You have no idea how important your nutrition is to the health of your hair. What you put inside reflects on the outside, as the saying goes. Eating junk food and high-sugar foods will only cause your hair to thin and become damaged.
Eat your veggies and fruits if you want thick, healthy hair. It is also preferable to avoid drinking alcohol and smoking. It’s not good for your hair or your skin.
Hair care tips
#1 Use mild temperature water when washing your hair
We can’t stress how serious and common this error is. This is a mistake that almost all of us make.
Using too hot water on your tresses removes moisture from the hair and causes it to dry, resulting in hair loss, breakage, and split ends. It is preferable to wash your face with lukewarm water.
#2 Wash your hair periodically but not everyday
The hair care routine you used on your short hair will not work on your long locks. In fact, failing to change the practice will only harm the hair. Washing one’s hair every day is a regular regimen for persons with short hair.
Aside from the fact that the constant washing of your hair causes it to become incredibly dry, exposing it to the chemicals in your shampoo and conditioner will weaken your hair’s roots and result in a disaster.
Allow 2-3 days between washes. Wash your hair on alternate days if you have highly greasy hair.
#3 Dry your hair properly
It’s not a good idea to vigorously comb your hair once you get out of the shower.
The friction you cause damages your hair, resulting in hair breakage and split ends. Stay away from that. Instead of a towel, use an old t-shirt to squeeze extra water from your hair and allow it to air dry.
#4 Do not brush your hair while it’s wet
Wet hair is brittle at the roots. That implies that even a slight strain might cause hair loss and damage. You are doing just that by brushing your damp hair. So, to keep your hair healthy and bouncy, wait for it to dry before brushing it.
#5 Discontinue use of hair conditioner
Conditioner is a product that contains strong chemicals that are meant to make our hair smooth and flat. Because of its potent formulation, applying it to the roots weakens them.
Weak roots result in increased hair loss and thinning hair.
The proper approach to apply conditioner is to begin in the centre of your hair and work your way up to the ends. Allow it to sit for a minute or two before rinsing.
#6 Avoid using lots of hair products
Hair gels and wax that you used to use on your short hair are not suitable for your long hair. Using a lot of hair products weakens your hair roots, causing hair loss.
While we’re on the subject of hair care products, don’t use too many hair styling products. These make your hair dry and brittle.
