Trevor Noah, a South African comedian and TV show host, has officially stepped down as the anchor of the American late-night show The Daily Show after seven years, glamsquad reports.

Trevor announced his departure from the show at the end of the season in September.
On Thursday, December 9, the comedian delivered an emotional farewell speech. Trevor recalled his earlier days as the host, when there were not enough people to fill the audience.
“I’m grateful to each and every one of you,” he said. “I’m overjoyed. When we first started the show, we couldn’t get enough people to fill the seats.”
He also thanked those who “hate to See” the show for helping to boost the ratings.
Noah paid tribute to the “brilliant” black women in his life in his emotional speech, describing them as the inspiration for his “great ideas.”

“This is random for some, but a special shout-out to Black women,” he said. I’ve often been credited with these big ideas. People say, “Trevor, you’re so smart.” I say, “Who do you think teaches me?” Who do you believe shaped, nourished, and formed me? ’
‘From my mother, grandmother, aunt, and all the black women in my life, but also in America.’ I tell people that if they want to truly understand America, they should talk to black women because, unlike everyone else, black women can’t afford to f*** around and find out.’
